This section contains my interpretation of Swetnam’s fencing style.
Swetnam’s book is somewhat disorganized, with commandments and examples scattered throughout. I’ve attempted to extract the core ideas I see in his fighting style and assemble them into a logical structure, making it easier for others to understand the material.
This process necessarily involves choices and decisions on my part, so I can’t swear that what’s in this section is exactly how Swetnam fought. All I can promise is that it’s as grounded as I can make it in his actual text, and that it works well in practical combat. It’s not the most sophisticated martial art, but I’ve won tournaments using nothing but what I’ve written here.
